"Wouldn't it be cool if we learned how to make our own candles?"
"You know what would be funny? If we made a candle called White Belt Tears."
And that is how JJCc was started!
We are two Jiu Jitsu Black Belts, Angie and Josh Vogel from Balance Studios in Philadelphia, PA. When we aren't rolling, teaching Jiu Jitsu and making candles, we are hanging out with our cats, Ravioli and Margaret.
Jiu Jitsu Candle Co takes great care in handling every aspect of our products. We do not outsource any part of the production from design to execution. Due to the candles being hand made in small batches (8 at a time) there may be some slight variations in colors from the candles you see pictured.
We use 1-3 day priority mail from USPS -depending on your location we typically see deliveries within 4 days. Once your product is made and packaged, we ship immediately! (We try to keep a small back stock during busy times, but expect it to be shipped within 2 days of your order. Keep in mind these are HAND MADE items.
In order to get the most out of your new candle, we have a few recommendations for your first burn. You should enjoy the candle until a full melt pool of wax has reached the edges of the container (generally around 2.5-3 hours). This will help eliminate any tunneling.
For wooden wicks, keep the wick trimmed to just above the wax line to control the flame height and burn. Trim soot from wick before relighting. Wooden wicks burn hotter than cotton wicks so it's important to follow all safety guidelines here and on the warning label.
Our wax is designed to pull away from the container towards the wick, to make sure the wax burns evenly. If you notice the candle shifts away from the glass during shipping, not to worry - it's most likely due to temperature changes (especially during cold weather).
